LEAF… the art of Palguna

Modernisation has gradually taken over nature’s greenscape. The dominating concrete jungles provoked painter I Made Palguna to emphasize the remote relationship between nature and its men in this visual exhibition “LEAF… the art of Palguna”.
This exhibition looks at the issue of deforestation which is a real environmental concern. Palguna chose the aptly titled theme to symbolise nature and how one can relate the ‘leaf’ as a shelter, a kind of protection and perhaps, a comfort zone. LEAF… the art of Palguna is organised by Kiridesa the Gallery.
I Made Palguna was born in October 1976 in the village of Ubud, Bali. His father, who taught him the traditional form of painting, nurtured his interest in art from a young age.
After graduating from secondary school, Palguna continued his studies at the Senior High School of Fine Arts in Denpasar, where he spent four years studying modern art. One of the talented young artists to look out for, Palguna pursues his art studies at the Institute of Art in Yogyakarta (ISI).Kiridesa the gallery was established in 1997, promoting contemporary and modern art.
